The UK is a dream destination for Indian
nurses who seek a better standard of living, job security, work-life balance,
and various other benefits parallel to the nobility of their profession.
Thousands of nurses flock to the UK every year from India to register and work
under the NMC of the UK. If you are someone of a similar background and your intentions
are as described, then you’ve come to the right place for training.
Educational Qualification & Experience
You must hold either a Diploma in Nursing or
a Bachelor’s Degree. Though employers accept candidates with less experience of
perhaps six months or so, if you have practically been on the job for longer
than that, your chances of employment would automatically return higher.
Language Proficiency
You will be working in an English-speaking
environment and therefore be required to able to communicate well in the
English language. For this, you would be required to take an internationally
recognized English language test. You could take the IELTS exam or the OET
to prove that you are language capable. If it’s IELTS, you will have to
score a minimum of 6.5 in Writing and 7 in the other subtests.
The score equivalent is required in OET, where at least C+ in Writing will
be accepted but for the rest of the subtests you will have to score a B.
NMC Registration
In the next step, you can begin your registration with the nursing regulatory board of UK, the NMC.
• Firstly, you will need to complete a self-assessment online through the NMC website, to verify that you are indeed eligible.
• Once, the assessment is completed and it is evident that you are eligible, you can then proceed with your CBT-NMC exam.
• The CBT test consists of questions that will be in two parts, focusing on the Clinical side and Numeracy. Medcity provides the best CBT training in Kerala. For course details, candidates can contact on: +91 8086631234.
• You will have to submit a list of documents to the NMC, so that you can be assessed and declared a good fit for a working position in the UK.
Employment
In the interview scheduled, employers will assess you based on several factors. This includes your practical and theoretical knowledge of nursing. If you get selected, the employer will refund the amount you have spent on OET, NMC Processing, CBT etc. They may either refund your Visa expenses and flight expenses or will sponsor to have these done.
Objective Structured Clinical Examination
(OSCE)
The OSCE is your final test once in the UK.
The OSCE assesses your clinical knowledge and can only be taken when you are
physically present in the UK.
The OSCE creates a simulated environment
where you will have to prove that you will be able to practically approach
certain scenarios in the nursing environment, make accurate assessments and
provide care. The employer will prepare you for the OSCE and also pay to book
the test.
The life of a nurse in the UK is so much different from their lives in their
homelands. With proper preparation for each of the tests mentioned above and
the right guidance, even you could become a Registered Nurse in
the UK.
